Welcome, friend!

I’ll let you in on a secret.  Writing a blog and sending out newsletters is not what I planned to do as a 60-something.  Yet here I am, fingers running across the keyboard, looking for the right words to welcome you and give you hope.

            Perhaps you want to know who I am and why you should read this blog. My life hasn’t been easy.  After 35 years of a difficult marriage that became increasingly abusive, my husband took his life, leaving me to single parent twelve teen and young adult children.  In the middle of all this, a television expose’ on international adoption falsely accused me of human trafficking. Authorities cleared my name, but every so often chat groups still pick up that rumor and run with it.

My kids grew up, married and had their own families.  My reward for raising twelve kids is that I now have twenty grandchildren!  Yet over half of those grandchildren have very serious health challenges, ranging from leukemia to severe autism to heart defects requiring open heart surgery. Since nine of my children are adopted and we don’t share the same gene pool, it’s difficult to understand how we could be faced with so many different health challenges.

Despite these very difficult experiences, I am convinced that God is good, all the time. I want to help you feel confident of this as well.  And that is why I’m at my keyboard instead of walking downtown for ice cream. 

Over the next few blog posts I will share with you the principles I’ve learned that have given me hope.  My strong desire is that you’ll find hope, too, and find God at work in whatever you’re going through.
